Light Rail

With an increasing demand on the public transport sector, the light rail operators require expertise to deliver added value to maintenance strategies for existing infrastructure, and to ensure the most cost effective materials selection and design for new track installations.

Corus undertakes detailed condition surveys and provides reports covering all aspects of fixed infrastructure. This effectively benchmarks the assets, for example assessing rail degradation due to wear and corrugation.

Benchmarking data is used to assist customers in forecasting future maintenance requirements. Corus works closely with its customers to develop detailed preventative and corrective maintenance strategies in order to minimise costs and possession times; this also maximises track asset life, alleviating potential disruption to service provision.

Where appropriate, Corus can recommend new maintenance technologies or techniques using their knowledge of ‘best practice’ maintenance throughout the light rail sector.
