Corus hosts first Technology Share Workshop

29 Oct 2004

Corus has successfully hosted the first of a series of conferences aimed at discussing future trends and current issues in the rail industry.  The ‘Corus Technology Share Workshop’ was held at the National Railway Museum in York and was attended by delegates from across the industry consisting of network operators, contractors and research companies.

The conference consisted of nine lectures in total, and was broken into three parts, covering Track Degradation and Cost Benefit Analysis, Outside Perspectives, and Changing Duty Conditions on the Railways.   In addition to contributions from Corus, it included speakers from the University of Transport in Sofia, the Transportation Technology Centre and the Rail Technology Unit.

There were opportunities throughout the day for interactive panel discussions and feedback, as well as a museum tour.

Dr Jay Jaiswal from Corus said “This workshop is an ideal forum for bringing together key players in the industry.  We are able to spend constructive time discussing ways of continually improving safety and reducing costs, using the knowledge of key issues and expertise available.”

The next workshop is scheduled to be held in the spring of 2005.  For more information contact Andrew Marshall at Corus on 01904 454647, email andrew.marshall@corusgroup.com
