01 Jun 2003
On 20 June, Philippe Varin the new Chief Executive of Corus visited the company's rail mill at Hayange.
During his visit, which is one of many the new CEO has made in his short time with Corus, he met with employees and the senior management team and toured the rail rolling mill.
Mr Varin, ex chief executive of French company Pechiney said, "I am impressed with the employees and the facilities I have seen today and by the wide range of high quality products and services that are offered by the rail business."
The visit comes at a significant time for the rail business, which is a major supplier of rail to SNCF for the maintenance and renewal of the French network. It has recently been awarded three new contracts including, an order to supply rail to Iran that will be used for maintenance and renewal work. The second and third contracts are for Corus Heat Treated Rail for SNIM in Mauritania and CVG Ferrominera in Venezuela.
