Corus Rail Consultancy has played a key role in the ongoing "Western Track Slews" at St. Pancras Station. Contract 104F although small in the overall value of the CTRL Project, it is critical to the delivery of the major civils contracts to build the new station deck and associated approach works. CRC has worked closely with Mowlem Railways as their designer, to create the "Green Field Site" for the civils works. Corus Rail Consultancy has delivered, what is now close to £1 million commission for the detailed design work to very demanding timescales. Work only started in earnest around Christmas 2001, all for delivery by June/July this year. This work has involved the remodelling of the track installation throat area, realignment and reconstruction of 3 platforms, and also detailed design of all plain line, switches & crossings and the provision of a new aggregate sidings and run round facility. This track work design has all been supported by CRC’s Electrical, Mechanical, Electrification and Civils disciplines, including the assessment of all supporting structures for the new alignment. CRC has proactively worked with colleagues in RLE and other railway contractors to overcome the complexities of these works. These are created by the number of interfaces to be managed, and the rigorous and time consuming technical approvals process.
