Railtex 2002 - a success for Corus Rail

01 Dec 2002

The Railtex 2002 event proved to be a great success for the Corus Rail Group.  The event held at the Birmingham NEC attracted many important players within the railway industry and enabled the group to further strengthen its presence and promote its unique group of businesses to the international rail markets.

The structure and position of the innovative stand ensured it was visible across most of the exhibition.  Many visitors were drawn to the stand by the Corus Rail Modular Systems scale model of it’s modular platform.  The model displayed was also able move to demonstrate the flexibility of the structure,  which was supported by a presentation and examples of the system in use at Barry Waterfront Station and St. Pancras.

Corus Rail and Corus Rail Steel Sleepers exhibited silent rail and a 560 Series dual rail capable sleeper, which were incorporated into the stand’s design.  Corus Rail Consultancy was able to demonstrate the Elemest estimating system and also Transport Planning solutions with their German partners RM Consultants.  Corus Rail Technologies also benefited from the event, as they were able to promote the capabilities of their expertise to potential clients.

Joint venture companies Corus Cogifer and GrantRail had their own stands, which were equally impressive.  Dave Walters Business Development and Systems Manager for Corus Cogifer said.  “The stand proved an excellent opportunity to promote the Corus Cogifer name and brand.  It also gave us the opportunity to show how our company is linked with both the Corus and Cogifer groups of companies, and illustrate the benefits, which can be achieved from inside the group.”  The exhibition gave Corus Cogifer the opportunity to display several new products these included: CWR Adjustment Switch on Steel Bearers and also the complete range of CEN60 Fishplates.

The Corus Rail group of businesses achieved a great response at this year’s event, and hope to repeat this at Manchester’s InfraRail exhibition in 2003.
