Corus announces new Managing Director for its rail businesses

Corus is pleased to announce the appointment of Joe Guérin as the new Managing Director of its rail businesses. Joe, who was Director, Logistics for Corus Construction & Industrial in Scunthorpe, will take up the appointment with effect from 1 December 2005 and will be based in York, UK. Corus Rail manufactures approximately 500,000 tpa of rail and track products in the UK and France and is Europe’s leading rail producer.

Joe has held a variety of senior technical, operational and logistics jobs in Corus including running the Workington rail mill. In addition to his responsibilities, the last 12 months has seen Joe as the integration coordinator for the £130m investment project at Scunthorpe, which includes the creation of a state of the art rail service centre and world class rail manufacturing facilities.

Joe said, “I am delighted to be coming back into a business that I know; I have very fond memories of rail production and our customers. I am looking forward to the challenge of the new job.”

Corus is currently investing £130m in its long product facilities in Scunthorpe, which also includes the creation a world class rail manufacturing facility that will produce longer rail up to 120m in the UK for the first time and a new state–of-the-art rail service centre. Rail will be produced at Scunthorpe by the end of 2006.
